Marriage Monday

I stumbled upon a blog awhile back that had dispensed some solid marriage advice with great reminders.  Isn't it refreshing when something slows us down long enough to remember what's important? I thought I would follow suit by starting my own Marriage Mondays, where I'll try to post a little something that hopefully does the same for you and me both. Here's an ode to keeping our marriages strong through the reality that is life, which I am borrowing from a post from my very first blog follower, Casey. Hope you enjoy as much as I did!!

If you haven't seen the video for Taylor Swift's "Love Story", watch it first here:

Then check out the parody of it below. Comment and tell me what you think! Which one relates to your life more??? Do you have any date night traditions?

Tom Brokaw's Story On Gander

(Found this on another site while searching for this video.  A MUST see if you missed it when it aired during the Olympics in Vancouver.)

The is the story of what took place in Gander, Nfld on September 11, 2001.

It was put together by Tom Brokaw and aired on NBC on the second last day of the Olympics. It wasn't shown on the CTV, so I don't know how many people got to see this.

It is a 45 documentary that is some of the finest journalism I have ever seen. Brokaw is able to capture the tremendous goodness of the people of Gander that was shown under the backdrop of the one of the darkest days in mondern times. It is an incredible story.

I wasn't able to find a version of it on NBC's site, but managed to find someone who posted it here:

The Teddy Stoddard Story

I just found this video, and think it really teaches a wonderful lesson about the profound and often overlooked difference we can make in the lives of others. At the bottom of the description of this video, it says, "Please remember that wherever you go, and whatever you do, you will have the opportunity to touch and/or change a person's outlook. Please try to do it in a positive way." What a true statement! When I worked for Marriott, managers were often reminded that every single interaction with our associates, no matter how short, either makes a positive impact or a negative impact on them. Whether it be a simple interaction with a grocery store clerk, or one with more far-reaching implications like with our family or those we teach or manage, let's all commit to slowing down a little and making each conversation and moment matter.

College Game Day

College Game Day is a Saturday tradition in our home, and as I mentioned on the home page, this Saturday kicks off the college football season that hubbie Rolland looks so forward to. We even entered our wedding reception to the College Game Day theme song. The only problem is this show brings me to tears nearly every week. How can ESPN make you cry, you ask? Click play, and see what I mean folks.
